Christofer Chapman is a partner and trial lawyer whose practice is centered on construction and product defect litigation as well as mold claims. His background also includes the defense of high severity automobile and general liability claims. He defends corporations, private individuals and insurance companies with a special emphasis on defense of high profile construction injury and defect actions for construction companies, manufacturers, design professionals, developers, general contractors and subcontractors.
Mr. Chapman has been with Ford, Walker, Haggerty and Behar since 2003. He began his legal career with defense firms in the Inland Empire and Orange County, before joining the firm in Long Beach. He is now handling Northern California and Nevada cases.
In addition to his trial work, Mr. Chapman has extensive experience with court-ordered and binding arbitration and mediation. In a recent court case, he defended a large housing developer who was sued for over five million dollars in damages. He obtained a defense verdict with no payment to the plaintiffs. In other cases, Mr. Chapman has represented real estate developers in mediation for construction defect claims asserted in the multiple millions of dollars. He recently obtained a defense verdict in Reno, Nevada, in an assault and battery case against a business establishment.
A member of the State Bar of California since 1991, and recently admitted to the Nevada bar, he is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. He has been a member of the Inns of Court, and the American Bar Association.
Mr. Chapman received his J.D. in 1990 from Southwestern University School of Law. He obtained his B.A. in Spanish/History in 1982 and a Master of Arts Degree in Secondary Education in 1984.
Born in Zaragoza, Spain, Mr. Chapman is fluent in Spanish. He lives with his wife Ester and has a son, Marcus and a daughter, Briana.
