Michele Williams is an associate who, as a trial lawyer, specializes in the defense of complex cases, including insurance bad faith, coverage and declaratory relief actions, toxic torts, mass torts, construction defect and professional malpractice. She has extensive law and motion and appellate experience with winning briefs resulting in published opinions and many successful summary judgment motions. She has also tried numerous cases as both first and second chair. She represents corporations, individuals, municipalities and their insurance carriers.
Ms. Williams became a member of the State Bar of California in 1987. She is also admitted to practice in the U.S. Court of Appeal, Ninth District, and the U.S. District Court, Central District. She has been associated with Ford, Walker, Haggerty & Behar since its founding in 1991 and began her career at its predecessor firm, Shield & Smith, after an externship with California Appellate Court Justice Vaino Spencer. Ms. Williams is a member of the Association of Southern California Defense Counsel.
Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Williams acquired practical experience in insurance, education, real estate and business.
She earned her J.D., cum laude, in 1987 from Whittier College School of Law, where she received honors as a moot court competitor. Upon graduation, she received the American Board of Trial Advocates Award for Excellence in the Preparation for Trial Practice. She earned her B.A. in English literature from California State University at San Francisco in 1967.
Ms. Williams and her husband Tommie live in Anaheim. Their son, Scott, is a Deputy District Attorney with the County of Riverside.
