Rafael Sanchez is a litigation associate at Ford, Walker, Haggerty & Behar’s Long Beach firm, focusing in automobile liability and personal injury defense. Prior to joining FWHB, Mr. Sanchez was a Fellow with the American Board of Trial Advocates. During his time as a Fellow, Mr. Sanchez worked with ABOTA members and was exposed to depositions, court hearings, settlement conferences, motion hearings, and trials.
During law school, Mr. Sanchez gained practical experience by participating in Loyola Law School’s prestigious Hobbs/Poehls District Attorney Practicum. The program placed Mr. Sanchez at the Long Beach District Attorney’s office within the Preliminary Hearing unit, where he was able to litigate several preliminary hearings on the record, argue motions, and support Deputy District Attorney’s with day-to-day operations.
Mr. Sanchez also work at the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution, where he received a Mediation Certificate satisfying the CA Dispute Resolution Programs Act. Mr. Sanchez has mediated court and community cases, including landlord-tenant, consumer-debt and spousal disputes.
Other highlights of Mr. Sanchez’s time at Loyola Law School include appearing on the record by litigating an Asylum case on the merits and completing over 200 Pro Bono hours supporting the community with legal help.
Prior to law school, Mr. Sanchez obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems and a Master’s degree in Information Security and Assurance.
Professional experience of Mr. Sanchez include working as a Software Test Engineer, developing new software features and working as a church Pastor, managing a church congregation.
