Insurance Coverage Litigation

Ford Walker Haggerty & Behar has a long history in the field of insurance coverage.  Its insurance bad faith and coverage team has generations of experience in handling a wide variety of insurance coverage disputes, whether in a consulting role to provide coverage opinions, or in representing insurers in litigation in state and federal courts in California and Nevada, as well as in the courts of appeal.  The firm’s insurance coverage practice encompasses first and third party claims under virtually all types of policies – including homeowners, rental dwelling, business-office, commercial general liability, professional liability, aviation/aerospace, maritime, boat and automobile policies.  The practice group handles most types of coverage disputes, whether complex or straightforward, including those involving property damage, bodily injury, commercial disputes, wildfires, additional insured endorsements, agency and broker disputes, Cumis issues, SIU issues, subrogation, priorities of coverage between insurers and stacking policies.  The practice group’s members have tackled matters of first impression before the Courts of Appeal, and have contributed to the establishment of legal precedent and published opinions, such as in Paslay v. State Farm General. Ins. Co., (2016) 248 Cal.App.4th 639; Delgado v. Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club of Southern Calif. (2009) 47 Cal.4th 302; and Rappaport-Scott v. Interinsurance Exchange of the Automobile Club (2007) 146 Cal.App.4th 831.
