School District Litigation

The attorneys at Ford, Walker, Haggerty & Behar who specialize in defending school districts draw on collective experience of nearly 70 years of defending general liability claims. Since the firm’s inception we have specialized in representing municipalities, and school districts in lawsuits seeking recovery for a variety of claimed damages resulting from slip-and-fall accidents, environmental clean-up claims, property damage, alleged dangerous conditions of public property, and employment disputes. We have extensive experience in representing school districts through the Independent Cities Risk Management Authority (ICRMA), in all aspects of municipal civil litigation. In addition, we have defended school districts through California SEWUP program and wrap insurance coverage for California Community Colleges. We represent a number of community college districts and currently represent El Camino College on personal injury cases, as well as construction related matters.

Our attorneys have prior experience working with TPA’s as well as a number of school districts, including Saddleback Valley Unified School District, Santa Ana Unified School District, Anaheim Union High School District, Huntington Beach Union High School District, Capistrano Unified School District, Hemet Unified School District, and Palm Springs Unified School District.  Cases included matters involving the California Public Records Act, disputes with vendors, construction issues and similar – cases that were not covered by their Memorandum of Coverage.  The school district cases have varied from things involving dangerous condition of public property, negligent supervision, and sexual molestation. Sample successes included affirming the ruling on a Motion for Summary Judgment in favor of the School District in a case involving a Project Labor Agreement and multiple constitutional issues.
