Partners Robert L. Reisinger and Edye A. Hill Obtain Defense Verdict In Wrongful Death Trial
Facts: The matter arose out of a two-vehicle accident of disputed liability. We claimed that the other vehicle made an improper turn in front of our client who was traveling straight through an intersection. Plaintiffs were the surviving heirs of a passenger in the other vehicle. The Court granted our Motion to Bifurcate Trial which allowed the jury to focus on the evidence about the disputed car accident. After the first phase of the trial, the jury returned with a complete defense verdict as to the issue of liability.
Damages: The Decedent incurred about $230,000 in medical bills. Prior to trial Plaintiffs last CCP 998 Demand was for $600,000.
Results: The jury deliberated for about forty minutes and unanimously found in favor of defendant by a 12-0 vote.
